Daily Bible Reading–March 2021 God's Word of Prayer

14 دن 31 میں سے

March 14

Introduction

The book of Lamentations is a collection of poems lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 B.C. and its aftermath of ruin and exile. In today’s reading, the desolation of the city is described.

Today’s Scripture Reading

Lamentations 1:1-22

Today’s Key Verse: Lamentations 1:18a

“But the LORD is just, for I have disobeyed him.”

Reflect

How is the desolation of Jerusalem described? Note the way it is described by the writer (verses 1-11) and the way it is described by the city itself (verses 12-22). What brought about this suffering (verses 5, 18)? According to verse 13, the city feels abandoned by God. Have you ever experienced a time when you felt abandoned by God?

Pray

Holy God, you are the healer of broken hearts. You hear my cries whenever I am in pain. I know that I can turn to you and seek your forgiveness whenever I have disobeyed you. Thank you for your steadfast mercy and love. Amen.

Prayer Concern

Cities ravaged by war and civil strife

Tomorrow’s Reading

Lamentations 3:1-33: God’s love and mercy are new and fresh each morning.
