Strong as a Mother

21 günden 1. gün

Right here at the start, we should get clear on something: when we talk about strength, it’s not about how hard you can hustle, how much you can bench press, or even how “together” you look. The strength we are aiming for is the kind of strength that comes directly from the throne of Heaven.

In this chapter, Paul is lamenting an ongoing weakness or trouble in his life; he calls it a “thorn in the flesh” (v.7). In a completely counter-cultural move, he says that instead of hiding the weakness we should “boast” about it and, thus, invite in the power of Christ. Well, that’s nice, Paul, but here in the 21st century, that’s just not what we do. We boast about the things we feel confident in and try to ignore or hide anything that does not add up to our photo-worthy lifestyle. But here is the thing, God wants to replace your weakness with His strength. The goodness of His grace is seen best in the frailty of our humanity. I want to invite you today, here at the start of this journey together, to offer up the places you feel weak and allow the grace of your Heavenly Father to fill you with power.

Lets Pray,

Heavenly Father, I want Your power to be made perfect in my life. Today I feel weak in __________. I give it to You and accept Your strength in its place. Help me to not boast in myself but boast in You. Amen
