Anchorage: The Storm of Sickness | Part 6 of 8Örnek
It Will Not Last Forever!
The power of sickness and suffering significantly die down when we realize that they are temporary. For the believer, the greatest hope is that every suffering we undergo right now is restricted to this world. It is but for a lifetime. If we endure, we get to spend eternity with the Father, where there is no suffering or sickness or sin.
We learn best from the story of the rich man and the beggar named Lazarus. While the rich man enjoyed his life here on earth and lived in luxury, Lazarus was on the streets, suffering from sores all over his body. Both of these men die and Lazarus finds himself being carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom while the rich man is tormented in Hades. And when the rich man asks for mercy from Abraham and requests him to send Lazarus to him to cool his tongue with some water, Abraham reminds him how he had enjoyed his time on earth with good things while Lazarus was tormented. But now Lazarus stands comforted. His earthly pain was not final.
This is a great relief for us as believers. Suffering is part and parcel of our life here on earth. But the good news is that it’s not final. The suffering will not last forever. We will live for eternity with the Father where there will be no suffering, where we will be comforted, and that is our ultimate hope!
Reflect
Remember that your suffering is only in this world. Ask God to help you see beyond your temporary suffering here on earth and look forward to blissful eternity with Him in Heaven!
