The Life Of A Worship LeaderHalimbawa
Choose Today to Worship
The choices you make stem from the root of your values. Each day presents itself with the opportunity to determine decisions that reflect your character. Each night echoes your daily selection of words, actions, and thoughts. At the end of it all, are you happy with your choices?
Each night I think about the passing of events and contemplate what was good, not so good, or still needs improvement. It is wonderful to close your eyes each night knowing that somewhere along the way you have done your best. However, failure and brokenness can leave rough edges as if our beds were made of sandpaper.
It seems as if past events and history cling to us as we seek for its resolve. I do not believe that we are to snap out of this kind of thinking. Nor are we to snuff-out our issues and ignore them. Time is needed to heal. It does get better.
When you plant seeds in one season, you do not see their effects until the next season, or even later. You may not see any activity on the surface, but below there is vitality and growth.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:18-19
The Father is the One to help open our eyes to see the new things He is planting, growing, and doing. He also has the power to help close our eyes to the old and former things. He has the power to open blind eyes and, in doing so, give light to men so they see their lost state. (John 9:13-15)
The light of Christ as a Savior, His fullness and grace, ability and willingness, shows wondrous things of the Gospel, the way we should walk in, and the duties of mercy we should perform.
“The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.” - Psalm 119:130
Like a plant in need of growth, God provides the soil and stability to help us stand not on our own strength but in Christ’s. He makes a way through the desolate places and carries us daily.
Even in the dark, a plant still finds its way to the light. Its leaves turn green because the power of the light, even while it rests. At night, we find sweet rest in the palm of God’s hands. He gives us a cool drink from the fountain of the Spirit filling our hearts with praise. Each day He provides new mercy, new vision, and new growth.
May we live each day in Christ, allowing Him to do the best within us. In the process, may our worship bloom with sweet fragrances to God.
“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness.” - John 12:46
Reflection: What are you harboring at night that hinders your worship in the day? Are you able to remove your hands that cling so desperately to the past and cling to Christ? As each day renews, God will cause His way to spring up. Are you ready to perceive it?
