Evangelism: Sharing the Good News

ARAW 1 NG 7

Evangelism is telling Good News!

Evangelism means to tell people the Good News about the Lord Jesus Christ.  Sharing the Good News shouldn't be daunting. It should be delightful for us to share the Gospel of our Saviour. If we're honest, however, we are often timid about speaking up for our Lord!  Why is that?

I think we're daunted because we know that the Gospel isn't often received as good news by those who don't know Him (2 Corinthians 2:14-17). Jesus was crucified for His message, so we feel fearful to share the same message. Jesus warns us that the world won't take any more kindly to us- than it did to Him.

So, is the Good News all that good, if it just invites rejection and persecution? Yes! Firstly, because it's about eternal life, not just some temporary high or quick fix. Secondly, Jesus said we're blessed when we're persecuted for the sake of righteousness because then great is our reward in heaven (Matthew 5:10-12).

We don't need to be daunted by evangelism. We must receive it as the good news it is- salvation from sin by God. We mustn't stingily keep it to ourselves, because we know the Holy Spirit is with us to help us always, so we should not be afraid; we can gladly share God's message with others (Matthew 28:20).

Do you believe the good news about Jesus Christ, the Son of God?

'God, we thank You for the Good News! Please help us to receive the gospel as it is, and faithfully share it with others, to Your glory and honor, Amen.'

Evangelism: Sharing the Good News

Evangelism: the very word strikes fear into the hearts of many ordinary Christians. We often might have a legalistic sense of duty to do it; but isn't evangelism just for those unusual people who are gifted at it? This plan seeks to reclaim evangelism as the sharing of good news that can be delightful rather than daunting!
