LISTENING FOR DIRECTION

What is the very best course for your life?

This is a difficult question to answer considering our limited wisdom and vision of the future. We cannot possibly know what challenges will arise on the path before us. This is why one of the most important disciplines we can develop as believers is that of listening to God. He always knows the way that is most beneficial for us.

All too often, however, the Lord’s wisdom is muffled by the clamor of daily life. Sometimes we start out walking with God but get so far ahead of Him that we can no longer hear His voice. Perhaps we get busy, prefer doing things our own way, or are lured into listening to others who have their own agenda. At that point, we can lose contact with the only Guide who truly knows the most optimal path forward.

Don’t make that mistake. Be alert to the Master’s voice as you journey through life. Stay in the Word, walk in the Spirit, be receptive and responsive to God’s promptings, and you’ll be sure to remain on the right road.

Jesus, I want to travel the very best course for my life, and I know it is found in You. Teach me to hear You and walk in Your ways. Amen.
