SAYING 15: HOLD ON! THERE IS HOPE FOR YOU YET!
It’s so easy to compare ourselves to others—we often do it unconsciously. Envy and competition can get the better of us, but this verse advises us to not let our hearts envy what the world defines as success; we should trust that God has the best in store for our lives. We’ve all had times whether at work, school, or some other moment where we could cut a corner to get ahead. We see people doing this all the time, right? But taking our future into our own hands and abandoning our moral compass can have repercussions.
However, this verse encourages us, saying that in view of God’s power and grace, He has a future for us that is full of hope. We see this again in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ When we trust in God, and live our lives making choices that honor him, we’re accessing that future He has for us. Walking the high road leads to a better place than any shortcut could take us. Hold on to hope!
