FROM THIS DAY FORWARD

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning. LAMENTATIONS 3:22–23 CSB

A couple’s wedding day is hopefully a day that neither one forgets—lest the “doghouse” becomes occupied! Not just because it’s the day they become husband and wife, but because it’s the day their vows are stated before God and witnesses. And while that day is generally a specific date and year, it can also mean today, right now. “This day” is renewable every day of marriage, the way God’s faithful love is pledged to us not just once but every day—it’s ongoing with each new sunrise. His mercies in marriage never end, and hopefully a husband’s and wife’s mercies toward each other will never end either.

Lord, Your faithful love is a source of security that I have come to rely on every day. Likewise, I want the faithful love I have for my husband to be a source of security for him. Renew in him this day and every day the commitment I made to him to do life together within the bounds of Your love, which is limitless. Help me to keep and honor him with meaning and purpose on our anniversaries, as well as on all the days in between. Let each year be a mile marker that reveals a stronger, greater, more impenetrable bond than the year before. Thank You for Your faithfulness to us, and help us to remain faithful to each other.IN YOUR GRACE AND MERCY I PRAY. AMEN.
