Preparing for Courtship

วันที่ 2 จาก 5

Courting, what a journey. I met my first boyfriend (now courtship partner) the summer before my undergraduate studies began. I was interning at a United Methodist church with the focus of fighting food insecurity in that area. The pastor at the time was hosting a few students from the college ministry program at the church one evening, he invited me to attend the Bible study. When I walked in, I remember sitting beside this guy who at the time didn’t really pull my attention but strangely enough, I couldn’t get him out of my head. I knew there was something about him but I wasn’t sure what it was.

Fast forward, he and I engaged In conversations via social media and I felt this strong feeling that he was “the one”. Before I go any further into this story, I want to address what “the one” means. Let me be honest, I am not saying there is only one person you are destined to be with but I felt that the Lord put this man in my life for a reason. Before meeting him, I made this very long exhaustive list of what I wanted in a husband and submitted it to the Lord. The Lord is not a genie by no means but the Lord does position people in your life in His divine timing.

Lamentations 3: 25-26 “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

So what about you? Have you met someone whom you feel could be “the one”? Does that person align with the goals, values, morals, and beliefs you have?

When you are beginning a courtship with someone, it is important that the two of you are evenly yoked and the both of you have a committed personal relationship with the Lord.

I am going to go into what it means to be evenly yoked and what it means to have a personal relationship with the Lord tomorrow.
