God Never Abandons

You may feel alone when God calls on you, but you are never left alone by God. He is always with you and will never forsake you. God's promise never to leave you can always be trusted because God is trustworthy. As the Spirit of Christ lives in the hearts of believers, you are never alone. God will never abandon you. God does not leave His children. Ever. Isn't that comforting?

God didn't abandon Moses and the Jewish people during their exodus from Egypt. He guided them on their way in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night. Moses told his successor, Joshua, that God Himself would go before Joshua into the Promised Land, and would be with him, never leaving or forsaking him. God told Jacob in a dream in Bethel that He would watch over him wherever he went and wouldn't leave him. (See the illustration of Jacob's ladder in Genesis 28:15.)

When God calls on you to trust in Him that the bills will somehow get paid, or the illness will get better, He is with you in His mercy. When He calls on you to keep looking toward Him in faith, He is with you in His grace. When He calls on you to be patient and endure, He is with you in His strength. When you question God, saying, "Why, Lord, Why?" He is with you in His comfort. When you feel abandoned, He is with you in His love. When you have sinned, He calls on you to repent and is with you in His forgiveness. God knows exactly where you are and what you're going through, and He is walking with you, even carrying you.
