The Promise Principle: A New Way to Encounter the Bible ตัวอย่าง
The Promise Principle Devotional
Day 5: From Head to Heart
Allow the Holy Spirit to move information from your head into your heart. Only in the heart does information become transformational. How do you move the promise of salvation and eternal life from your head into your heart? By asking in faith for Jesus to forgive you for your sins and save you. With a thankful heart, you receive Jesus as the Lord of your life.
This process happens through prayer. God is spirit, and He gave you a spirit to relate to Him. Prayer engages your spirit with God. Have you ever heard it said that the furthest distance is between your head and your heart? The shortest route is through prayer.
In the same way that you move the promise of salvation, you must also move every other promise of God from your head into your heart. This step is crucial if you want to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
As you pray God’s Word, the Holy Spirit begins the process of “hiding God’s Word in your heart” (Psalm 119:11). The word “heart” in this passage refers to the center of your feelings—your soul. As you pray and respond to God’s Word with your spirit, God hides His truth in your soul and renews your thoughts and attitudes.
Here is a new way to encounter the Bible.
Step 1: Read a passage of Scripture.
Step 2: Underline each promise and consider if it is a truth or a commandment.
Step 3: Ask yourself, “What circumstance in my life do I need to respond to with this
promise?” The Holy Spirit will lead you into truth on this.
Step 4: Respond to the promise in prayer.
· If the promise is a truth, thank God for it in relation to your circumstance.
· If the promise is a commandment, ask God in faith to empower you to do it.

God’s Word is full of promises, but we often miss them. Circumstances may shape how you read the Bible; however, the Bible should shape how you respond to your circumstances.
