Fruits Of The Spirit – Revealed At ChristmasНамуна
LOVE
Without love, there is no Christmas! For God so loved the World…. that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.
God loved the world. The world was not perfect. The world had rejected Him. There was chaos, confusion, deceit, hatred, jealousy and everything evil but God still so loved the world. He sent His son to give a way out for mankind from this evil world.
In the second passage, we see John instructing us not to love the world or anything in it. The world, as John explains says when we love the world the love of the father is not in us. He goes on to add that the world and its desires will pass away but the man who does the will of God will live forever.
So what exactly did God love in this world that required He send His Son? In this evil world, God still saw people who are seeking the way, the truth and life and He sent His son who is the way, the truth and life to lead those seeking him to eternal life.
God’s people seek God and do not love the world. Just as Jesus was sent into this evil world we are also asked to be in this world and not get carried away by it. Our desire is for pleasing God so we will have eternal life and through us, people will go from darkness to light.
Thought for today:
What earthly desire that I love, does God want me to give up today?
