Thrive. A 14-Day Devotional for SinglesНамуна
No Mistakes
One of the most dangerous things you can do as a single Christian is to compare your story to someone else’s. Just because you went to the same high school or roomed together in college doesn’t mean that God has the same plan for your life. So much of our time is wasted comparing our stories with other people’s. She has the husband that you thought would be yours, or the job you were sure would be yours; they have the house that you had mentally dreamed about. It doesn’t seem fair - until you consider God’s point of view. God is sovereign over all things. There’s nothing He cannot do and there are no accidents in His economy. He makes no mistakes. You are where you are today because God allowed it to happen. God isn’t perplexed by your singleness and He knows exactly what you need and when you need it. When I was growing up they used to say “if you can’t trust God's ways, trust his heart”. The easiest way to trust God’s heart is to fix your eyes on His promises and stop comparing your story to everyone else’s. When you do that, you’ll be on your way to thrive.
Questions:
Who are you tempted to compare yourself to? What are some specific ways you can guard against the stronghold of envy in your life?

About this Plan
Despite what many people think, singleness is not a disease. It’s not the lesser option. Singleness is God’s gift to you today. In Thrive, Lina AbuJamra – who has been single for over 50 years – will show you how you can make a difference with your life right now instead of sitting around waiting for something to happen to you. If you’re ready to figure out what God has to say about singleness instead of relying on your own feelings and conclusions, this plan is for you.
