Hope Beyond Despair: Finding Truth After A Loved One’s Suicide

DAY 14 OF 16

LIE #7: People who commit suicide go to hell.

Some people believe and teach that anyone who commits suicide goes to hell. But this is simply a lie.

TRUTH: People who have received Jesus’ forgiveness of sin go to be with Him; those who haven’t go to hell.

The mode of physical death does not matter. A person’s eternal destiny is not determined by how they die, but on their relationship with Jesus Christ. If a person commits suicide and has not received forgiveness of sin, this person will not spend eternity in the presence of the Lord.

However, if someone has received forgiveness of sin, and sadly, chooses to commit suicide, this person will still spend eternity in the presence of the Lord. It is tragic and heartbreaking to choose suicide and enter heaven through this unrighteous act. Although salvation includes forgiveness of all sin, suicide should never be the answer to people’s suffering.

About this Plan

Hope Beyond Despair: Finding Truth After A Loved One’s Suicide

There is no heartache equal to that of losing a loved one. Unanswered questions, despair, and perhaps self-blame can leave those left behind with feelings of hopelessness. This 16-day plan examines biblical examples of suicide as well as the smorgasbord of lies we are tempted to believe in a suicide situation. Replacing these lies with God’s Truth will bring healing and comfort to those left behind.
