Stoop To ConquerНамуна
Career Breaks, Not Brakes!
Changing roles and responsibilities oftentimes compel women to take a career break! These breaks cause despair in many making them feel that their skills and experience are lost forever! Often these familial concerns that interrupt our lives tick away many a woman’s career clocks, upsetting the trajectory of their professional advancement.
Demands on the domestic front compelled me to take a back seat from a successful work profile! Later when I tried to restore my network, I was not well-received. The fact of not being in their radar and dismissing statements cut me to the quick! Had I done the right thing to put family before my career? Could I not have balanced both personal and professional life as they say? – such thoughts were raging within me. I prayed earnestly about the direction of my life and applied myself to the care-taking role more than the career-making initiatives!
It was a big surprise when I got a call from a high-profile client who had forgotten me for almost a decade! The Lord is at work!
I was invited to action a strategy I had written nearly 10 years back. The client had attempted to go ahead with few other professionals and later decided to get me in to execute it. They felt that the insights and inputs I had submitted some 10 years back were still relevant.
I was invited to address their regional country heads and support them through a region planning meeting! God had still kept me relevant. I could see myself more seasoned and confident in spite of this seeming break. It was just a career break, not a complete brake! I realised that His wisdom and favour over my life is all I need to help me find favour in the eyes of the world.
God works on a different ‘time’ zone. There are no ‘wasted years’ only ‘tasted years’ in God’s calendar. God enriches each day of our life with learnings, experiences or expertise which makes us relevant for the times and our specific calling!
Prayer
Lord, help me to view life from Your vantage point, not mine. Help me realise that spending my lifetime knowing You is the central point of my life. Amen
