Grief Bites: Finding Treasure In HardshipsНамуна
One of the toughest parts of grieving a loss is that grief often is layered and continual...it doesn't hit all at once.
For example, when someone loses their home through a natural disaster, fire, or divorce, the initial loss is the home...then a few weeks later, the realization that they lost treasured items like photos, home videos, heirlooms, scrapbooks, gifts from loved ones, etc becomes a painful reality...then they realize they lost valuable info such as journals, computers, & other important records...then come Christmas time, they realize they lost special ornaments/decorations...then one day, they'll go to look for something and remember it was lost in a tornado/fire/flood/natural disaster.
When it comes to divorce, the initial loss is the relationship...then as the weeks go by, they realize it changes many of their other circumstances and relationships...then they realize how the divorce is affecting their children and finances...then they may end up later going through the rebellion of their children due to their children hurting from the divorce.
The pain from losing a home or a marriage is a process and very heartbreaking...and frustrating.
Although the loss of precious treasured relationships and items is extremely painful, God has the ability to bring us deep peace. As we keep our minds on God, He is faithful to give us peace that is unexplainable.
If you know of someone who has recently lost their home due to flooding, a fire, tornado, or other natural disaster...or if you know of someone in the midst of a divorce, reach out to them today.
Bless them through the love and resources God has blessed you with.
