Jesus Chooses Who?—Disciple Makers Series #3Намуна
Jesus Chooses…
I love these verses. Jesus calls people to follow Him. He does not choose the religious leaders—He chooses fishermen. He does not choose educated, rich, successful people—He chooses fishermen. He does not choose people from the upper classes (castes)—He chooses fishermen. He does not choose people we would expect to change the world—He chooses you and me.
This is who Jesus chooses when He goes looking for disciples to follow Him. Make sure we do not miss these people when we go looking. God sees them as special and willing to use them to change the world. So Jesus finds people willing to follow Him from everywhere and He willingly accepts them as disciples. Look for this kind of people as well.
Time to Pray
Father, You choose simple people along with everyone else. You make no distinction about who You will accept as Your special followers. Help me to do the same. May I never look at a person based on what I see—his/her background, education, culture, job, status in the community—and decide who would be a good follower. It is people who are willing to make You their Lord and will be obedient to Your Word. Help me to be that person. Help me to look for those people. In Jesus’ name Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the 3rd of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. We begin the ministry of Jesus and then we listen to Him explain the initial rules of the Kingdom of God.
