What on earth am I here for?
We are made by God in His likeness. He is our Father and we his Children.
God has put a sense of purpose even in the smallest of creatures. Plankton is one of the smallest organisms in oceanic waters. It cannot swim against the flow, and is food for large aquatic animals. But it was designed with a purpose. Plankton survives using a technique called photosynthesis. It comes up to the water surface to receive sunlight and then go down into the dark depths of the ocean to provide 80% of the ocean's photosynthesis. By doing so, the ocean generates 50% of the oxygen that we breathe every day.
Our purpose is like that of plankton, we receive light from God, and we are sent by God to share this light with everyone we know. Jesus communicated the purpose of our lives by simply saying, “Love God and Love People”.
Think about this: Would God ever create us without a purpose. He is the God that says in Jeremiah 29:11—for I know the plans I have for you. He does have purpose & plans for us. And, His plans are incredible. Hold on. Even at times when you question the purpose of your life, choose to bask in the fact that the God who gives purpose to even the tiniest creature on planet earth has the most fabulous purpose for you.
Prayer:
God, I thank you for creating me in your image and blessing me with a life of purpose. Help me to ask of your love and grace daily to live out my purpose in your will and plan for my life and your kingdom. Amen
