Devotions From City HarborНамуна
Devotional by Molly Reed
Surrender. Such a big word. An even bigger action. The definition of surrender is: “To give over or resign oneself to something.” I can’t tell you how many times I have found myself believing that I am actually in control...
I’ve been holding on, trying to take control. What I really need is to let it go.
The truth is, God is in control of every detail of our lives. There is little to nothing that we can control in the grand scheme of life. But aren’t you so glad that’s the case? Have you ever seen the Disney movie “Up”? There is a moment in the film where the main character ties thousands and thousands of balloons to the roof of his house in order to escape and float away from the crazy world around him. I like to remember that scene when I am having trouble surrendering something to The Lord. I Imagine myself taking hold of my “issue/worry/problem/thought”, tying thousands of balloons to it, and LETTING IT GO...I let it float away and let it be lifted up to God. He will take care of it.
Lift it up, lift it up, lift it up to You. Where I've been, where I am, where I’m going to. Gonna open my hands and watch YOU move. I’ll lift it up, lift it up, lift it up to You.
There is nothing more freeing than trusting your life to God. He promises that He will aways work everything out in our favor. Nothing is ever wasted.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” - Romans 8:28
“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.” - Psalm 37:5
He will help you, guide you, and take care of you. Whatever you have faced, or face today and tomorrow, lift up your life to Him. Any question, concern, worry, hope, dream, hurt or shame... tie some balloons to it and let it go. He will never fail you.
