Soul Survivor: 'The Flood' Part 2

DAY 3 OF 3

He Is Alive

As followers of Jesus we have a lot of reasons to celebrate. Not only did Jesus die in our place and take all of our sins upon himself on the cross, he then defeated death and rose again. We don’t worship an ancient figure who said and did some great things and then died, leaving us with history books to remember him by. We worship a living God. When the two Mary's went to visit Jesus’ tomb they were going there to grieve having seen Jesus’s body broken on a cross. They had no idea that they would see an angel and an empty grave.

Though Jesus had told the disciples that after he died he would come to life again, his words didn’t make sense to them. After all they’d never seen anyone come back from the dead. But Jesus did exactly what he’d said. The grave couldn’t contain him; he is alive!

Not only did Jesus come back to life after three days, he is alive in our hearts every single day. That means we’re never on our own. Wherever we are, whatever we’re doing, and however we feel, he is with us. We don’t have to fear – not in this life and not when we die.

Death couldn’t defeat Jesus and it can’t defeat us either. Because he is alive we also know that we have the promise of eternal life with him.

Spend some time rejoicing in the fact that Jesus is alive. He defeated sin and death and he now lives in you, and you will live for eternity with him. Those are definitely some reasons to celebrate!

About this Plan

Soul Survivor: 'The Flood' Part 2

Soul Survivor recently released a live worship album from their summer events where around 30,000 young people gathered to worship Jesus. This second series of devotions takes three tracks from the album ‘The Flood’ and looks at the Bible passages from the Old and New Testaments that inspired them, exploring the greatness of our God and celebrating his majesty and might.
