Have you heard the term “girl math”? It’s trending on social media, where girls humorously justify shopping splurges. For example, buying something on sale means you basically earned money 🤔 or paying cash makes it “free” because the money was already taken out of your bank account. 🥴

Silly? Definitely! And hilariously leading to great frustration of the, more logical-thinking, boyfriends and husbands.🤣

“What does this have to do with anything?” You ask. Well, the Bible has its own version–let’s call it “God Math.” It’s the kind of math that baffles human logic but makes perfect sense to God. This week, we’re diving into how God’s math works.

When it comes to finances, God math is particularly mind-blowing. He generously gives us everything:

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. – James 1:17

In return, He asks us to honour Him with our tithe, which is ten per cent of our income.

A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. – Leviticus 27:30

Ten per cent of your income may feel like a lot, especially when you’re already struggling to make ends meet. But when we consider that God gave everything, holding nothing back–not even His son (John 3:16), it really isn’t all that much!

When we give back a portion of what He’s already entrusted to us, God makes an incredible promise:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. – Malachi 3:10

Now, that’s some divine math worth trusting!

If you haven’t given tithes yet, I encourage you to start today. Consistently give ten per cent of your income to the church you attend, and watch God’s promises unfold in your life!
