DAY 7 OF 40

God Calls Us to Repentance - Day 7

Our culture has a great fascination with money, fame, power, and sex. And while we may think this is unique to America and modern Western culture, the fact is that Satan is an old dog without new tricks. The 24-hour news cycle and social media obsession are a new twist, but he’s been using these same distractions to turn people away from God since the beginning.

This is important to keep in mind when you feel like Satan is on the attack and winning the battle. Because as powerful as he seems at times, the truth is that he has only one foothold in our lives—sin. Yes, it’s a big, powerful way in, but our God is bigger and more powerful. So powerful, in fact, that Jesus has already defeated the enemy and given us a way to escape his attacks. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, and he rose again to conquer death. When we repent, meaning turn away from our sins and reach for God, we refocus on Jesus and leave the enemy in the dust.

What’s your struggle today? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you turn away and reach for God.
