God's Redemption Story (Revelation)

DAY 27 OF 40

We Hope in Jesus - Day 27

We read throughout Scripture that we can hope in Jesus because we’ll be with him in heaven one day, but how do we do that? In real, practical life, when the bills are due, kids are crabby, marriages struggle to survive, politics are crazy, and hate permeates our culture—what does it literally, physically mean to “hope in Jesus”?

If hope means to “expect with confidence,” and we expect to be in heaven with Jesus, let’s act like we’re already there. Revelation 4 tells us that all creation worships the King sitting on the throne without stopping. As humans on earth, we can’t sit around singing worship songs 24 hours a day. We need to work, eat, drive the kids, and maybe sleep a little. But singing a few songs on Sunday morning isn’t enough to keep us focused on God. This week, see if you can work in some more worship—sing in the car, take a walk and appreciate his creation, and tell him in prayer how much you love him. Whatever way you choose, act like you’re in heaven and hope in him!
