Ready as You Are

DAY 1 OF 5

NO SMALL ROLES OR INSIGNIFICANT DAYS

We know it’s really easy to become enamored by the end goal, but as we navigate the path to our God-given macro purpose, we should hold these words close to our hearts: “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps” (Proverbs 16:9). This verse captures the dynamic between our macro purpose and all the micro-steps God has called us to take. We might have a grand plan in our hearts—and that’s okay—but it is through daily obedience and submission to God’s will that we truly walk in alignment with His purpose.

Another testament to the power of our daily decisions comes from Jesus Himself. He taught, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:33–34). This verse is a powerful reminder to me (Britt) to focus on the present moment. This very moment is the only moment that is real. So, what will I do with it? I want to prioritize making the most of my micro purpose right now while simultaneously trusting God with the macro.

Rest in this: the ordinary, seemingly insignificant acts of obedience we walk in daily will act as the seeds we sow, nurturing our journey toward a bountiful harvest that awaits us in the future. In the dance between the daily and the divine, every act of kindness, each moment of courage, and all choices of faithfulness are the brushstrokes that paint the grand picture of our lives. The macro and the micro aspects of our purpose are not separate journeys we’re on but one continuous path where each step is guided by God’s hand.

As we walk out our days, let’s hold fast to the truth that in God’s eyes there are no small roles or insignificant days. Every choice for kindness, every act of service, and every moment of faithfulness is significant in building the life He envisions for us. Keep faith in the small steps, for they lead to the fulfillment of great plans He has promised

Prayer

Father, thank You for giving me the opportunity to serve You in everything I do. I want to serve You in even the most mundane tasks. Amen.
