DAY 4 OF 5

The Deep Well Inside Us

Jesus offers rivers of living water that flow from within, a picture of the Holy Spirit’s power and presence in our lives. Yet, we often dig “cracked cisterns” — seeking life in things that ultimately leave us empty. True resilience comes from drawing on His endless well of grace, not from our own depleted reserves.

The imagery of living water reminds us that God’s provision is constant and abundant. Unlike the temporary relief offered by worldly pursuits, His Spirit provides deep and lasting satisfaction. Cracked cisterns symbolize our attempts to find life apart from God, which often leads to frustration and emptiness. Reflect on the areas where you have sought fulfillment outside of God’s will. What would it look like to abandon those pursuits and drink deeply from His living water instead? Let His Spirit refresh and sustain you as you navigate life’s challenges.

Reflection:

  • Where are you tempted to seek life apart from God?
  • How does the imagery of living water inspire you?
  • What practices help you remain connected to God’s source of life?
