Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

DAY 5 OF 40

Week 2: Trusting God’s Guidance in Uncertainty

Theme: Living in God’s Kingdom means embracing a love and faith that often defy our expectations, inviting us to sacrifice, trust, and grow in humility.
Focus Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Connect: Have you ever felt the pressure to control every detail of your life—your plans, your relationships, or even your emotions? Maybe you've experienced frustration or anxiety when things don’t go as expected. Now, imagine what it might feel like to loosen your grip on that control and instead trust that there’s something—or Someone—greater working for your good. What if this Lent season is an opportunity to release the burden of control and discover a deeper peace?

Engage: In the wilderness, Jesus faced moments of intense temptation. Each one offered Him the chance to seize control, assert power, or take an easier path. Yet Jesus responded by anchoring Himself in God’s Word and trusting in His Father’s will. His example reminds us that surrendering to a truth greater than ourselves can bring clarity, courage, and strength. Lent invites us to reflect on these moments of surrender in our own lives. What might it look like to let go and trust instead of striving to manage it all on our own?

Apply: Take some time to reflect on an area of your life where you feel the pull to control the outcome—whether it’s a relationship, a decision, or a worry about the future. What would it look like to release that into God’s care? Set aside a few moments each day this week to pray and name that situation, asking for the strength to let go and trust completely.

About this Plan

Lent: The Journey of Letting Go

Lent begins with a call to release control and embrace surrender. By letting go of the burdens we carry, we create space for God’s grace to bring renewal and transformation. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
