Day 5: The Blessing of Community and Connection

While marriage is often seen as the ultimate relationship, the Bible shows us that God also designed us to thrive in community with others. The early church provides a great example of this. The apostles and disciples, many of whom were single, lived out their faith in deep and meaningful relationships with each other. Jesus Himself surrounded Himself with a community of disciples who shared His mission and walked with Him through life.

The relationship between Naomi and Ruth is another example of deep connection outside of marriage. Ruth, a widow, chose to stay with Naomi, her mother-in-law, and the two of them supported each other through difficult times. Ruth’s commitment to Naomi was not based on romantic love but on a deep, sacrificial love for her family. In the same way, we are called to build meaningful, supportive relationships with others, especially within the body of Christ.

Your friendships, whether they are with other women or fellow believers, are a powerful blessing in your life. God has placed people around you to encourage you, hold you accountable, and help you grow. Don’t overlook the importance of these relationships—they are gifts from God. As you nurture these connections, you will be strengthened and equipped to serve God more effectively.

Lord, thank You for the gift of community and friendship. Help me to invest in the relationships You’ve placed in my life, and may I be a source of encouragement and support to others. Teach me to love deeply and serve faithfully within the body of Christ. Amen.
