Find Hope: Matthew 1-4Намуна
Letting Jesus Redeem and Restore
Is there something you think is unforgivable? Untouchable? Too broken or too dark to even go near?
In our humanity we run from darkness.
In Jesus’ divinity, he runs to darkness.
He longs to dwell there, so that he can redeem, restore, and bring new life.
There’s a scene from the movie Wall-E—a futuristic depiction of a world without greenery and life, replaced with destruction and desolation—where Wall-E, the robot, finds a single green sprout whilst compacting rubbish. Wall-E is amazed and rushes the sprout home to protect it. Wall-E clung to the new life he had discovered because for him it meant hope beyond the broken, dark, lonely world he lived in.
In our world of darkness, we long for light. We cling to the good things and hold on to them as if they will save us.
But Jesus is not like us. He is the one that brings light and life from the wilderness. He shines in the dark. He is the one who dines with sinners, heals the lame, breaks curses, and raises people from the dead.
And Jesus empowers us to step into dark and difficult places, to be His light. Jesus frees us up to no longer cling to good things, but cling to Him—the source of all good.
Today, ponder this: What areas of your life do you need Jesus to shine his light into today?

About this Plan
Find hope in Jesus by exploring the opening chapters of Matthew’s Gospel. These chapters reveal who Jesus is: fully human, fully divine, Immanuel—God with us. He is the beloved Son of God, fulfilling the promises made to Abraham and David. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus not only shows us how to live in the kingdom of God but also makes a way for us to enter it. As His ministry begins with the call to repentance, we see the long-awaited kingdom finally breaking into the world. Hope is here!
