It Is Christmas: The Journey of the NativityНамуна
Day 1: The Annunciation – Heaven Invades Earth
Reading: Luke 1:26-38
Mary was an ordinary young woman in Nazareth, living her days amidst simple tasks and ordinary dreams. Until heaven broke the silence. Gabriel, the celestial messenger, brought an unexpected word: "You have been chosen." Imagine the shock, the fear, and the sense of inadequacy. Mary was young, humble, and likely never imagined something so extraordinary.
What stands out most is her response. She could have hidden in fear or argued that she was unqualified. But instead, Mary said, "I am the Lord’s servant. May it happen to me as you have said." (Luke 1:38). Her total surrender was an act of courage and faith.
The story of the Annunciation is more than a historical account. It is a reminder that God does not seek the most powerful or the most prepared; He chooses willing hearts. You may feel that your life is too small for great purposes, but Mary teaches us that obedience can transform simplicity into something eternal.
Today, God is still calling us. His message may not come with an angel, but it reaches us through His Word, through a call in your heart. He does not expect you to understand everything. He only desires your "Yes." Like Mary, we can trust that God equips those He calls.
Christmas begins with faith. Faith in a God who invades the ordinary to accomplish the extraordinary. Faith in a Savior who chose to enter the world through a humble young woman. And faith in a plan that, though incomprehensible at the moment, is always good.
Prayer:
“Lord, like Mary, I want to respond to Your call with a willing heart. Help me to trust in Your plans, even when they seem greater than I can understand. May my life reflect Your grace and obedience. Amen.”
