Book of DanielНамуна
Daniel and his friends faced their ten-day test with faith and determination. As a result, they looked healthier and better nourished than those who ate the royal food. The outcome was never about a diet but about the faithfulness of God. Because of their uncompromising stance, God blessed them with exceptional knowledge, understanding, and skills.
Chapter 1 culminates in them being presented to King Nebuchadnezzar, who found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his kingdom. So much so that Nebuchadnezzar would go on to defer judgment and decisions over to Daniel in the chapters to come. This was not just a victory for Daniel and his friends but also a demonstration of God’s sovereignty and power over the Babylonian empire.
You see, Nebuchadnezzar thought that he was in the driver’s seat. He thought he was in control over Israel. He thought that his cultural deception would win out once again, just as it had many times before. However, it was not the Israelites that were under a deception. It was him. Daniel and his friends were not the ones being conditioned. He was.
At the end of the day, kings will come and go, empires will rise and fall, and presidents will go in and out of office. However, for those who follow Jesus, we can rest assured that no matter who is on the throne, our God is always in control.
Prayer:
Lord, I praise you for your sovereignty. Remind my heart today that no matter who sits on the throne, you are the one in control. Amen.
