Good FaithНамуна
While so many people in Scripture model what real faith looks like lived out, arguably one of the most significant examples comes from Jesus’ mother herself: Mary. At the time we enter her story in Scripture, she’s a young teenager engaged to be married to a man named Joseph. In their context and time, that was to be expected. So, everything seemed to be going according to plan. That is, until an angel of the Lord appeared to her with a message that changed her life: She was going to be pregnant with the Son of God Himself. Not yet married, this culturally would’ve been a reason for Joseph to leave her behind and never look back. It would’ve been a reason to push her out and treat her like an outcast. There was Mary, a girl who didn’t ask for the situation she was in, now forced to face the reality of being a young, pregnant, unmarried woman. If anyone had a reason to struggle with faith, it was Mary at that moment.
Of course, she was anxious, uncertain, and worried. That’s what makes the angel’s words here so valuable: “For no word from God will ever fail” (Luke 1:37). This is why Mary could have faith. God would never fail her, and that meant whatever she was called to do by Him, she could do it in full faith, knowing God wouldn’t leave her or fail her. And as followers of Jesus today, that’s the same kind of promise God offers us. What do you feel God is calling you to do in life right now? How can you, like Mary, choose to walk toward that in full faith, putting the weight of your life on His promises?

About this Plan
We’re told to have faith that certain things will happen, to put our faith in ourselves, to keep the faith, to be faithful. But while phrases like that get tossed around in our vocabulary all the time, have you ever stopped to wonder what faith is really all about? At its core, faith is all trust, hope, and confidence. In this devotional, we’ll look at how putting our faith in Jesus shapes the way we live.
