FREE FROM THE WORLD
Adam Woods
Being free from the world doesn’t mean not being in the world but rather being ok with not conforming to what the world does. God has put us on this earth to not be people of the earth but rather to be salt and light. What that means is we have a mission here on earth to bring people to Jesus. We need to use this home as a tool in order for us to bring others into the kingdom and the life that God has given to us.
Matthew 28 tells us that we are called to make disciples of the world, but we should not act like the world does. We can live in and work in this world, as Jesus’ hands and feet without letting us conform to it. Jesus has made us free and free indeed. Free from what the world has to offer, and what we can consume. When we have the holy spirit living inside of us, we can be free from this world and the sin that is inside it.
But this requires strength, as conforming to the world and slipping back into its ways are an easy thing to do and a slippery slope. So we need Jesus in everything we do, to not be of the world but to bring people into the kingdom and set them free from this world.
God provides us an avenue to be free indeed when we choose a life with him. We still need to be in the world as even God says we are here for a time.
Jesus gave an opportunity to be free from this world when he died on the cross. Through Jesus' blood we are cleansed from our sins and ultimately, we have a new life. This life has been paid for and atoned for by God. We have freedom through the cross. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice he paid our debt and therefore we were set free from sin and this world which is full of sin.
So take heart, for our God has freed us from this world. We can live a life free and free indeed with our lord Jesus! We have an eternal life and bounty in heaven. This world is only a pit-stop so don’t waste it!
Through Jesus we have freedom!
