Journey With Jesus 365

DAY 89 OF 365

In John Chapter 19, we witness the culmination of Jesus' earthly ministry through His crucifixion. This chapter opens with Jesus being scourged and mocked by Roman soldiers, who crown Him with thorns and dress Him in a purple robe, a cruel parody of His kingship. Pilate presents Jesus to the crowd, declaring, "Behold the man!" Yet despite finding no guilt in Him, he succumbs to the pressure of the masses and religious leaders demanding Jesus' death. Jesus is led to Golgotha, where He is crucified between two others, fulfilling the prophetic scriptures. In a touching moment, Jesus ensures the care of His mother by entrusting her to His beloved disciple, demonstrating His compassion even in suffering. As Jesus declares, "It is finished," He completes His redemptive mission, and His death signifies the ultimate sacrifice for humanity's salvation. The chapter concludes with Jesus' burial, where Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, who had previously approached Jesus at night, now openly honor Him with a proper burial. As we see Jesus’ crucifixion, the question we need to ask ourselves is, “What does Jesus' crucifixion mean for us today?” Jesus died so that we can be with Him for eternity!
