A Year in Luke/ActsНамуна

In the next story, a paralytic man is lowered before Jesus whilst He is teaching. What he wants from Jesus must seem quite obvious, but Jesus surprises everyone, not least the Pharisees when He says, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.” The Pharisees are appalled that Jesus would dare forgive sins. In order to demonstrate His Authority to cleanse not only the outside but also the inside of a person, Jesus tells the man to get up. This story acts as a hinge between the outer cleansing of the man with the skin disease, and Levi the tax collector, which we will look at tomorrow.
