After imagining the Kingdom of God filling the Earth yesterday, let’s meditate on this line in particular from Isaiah 53, the great passage from the Hebrew Bible on the Messiah’s Sacrifice:
“By a perversion of justice he was taken away. Who could have imagined his future?” (v8a)
Who could have ever imagined what was coming after the tragic Death of Jesus? The answer is that actually the Hebrew Scriptures had hinted about the Resurrection and Jesus himself had been preparing His disciples for that moment. But of course, they had never seen resurrection before, and they would have been distraught. As the old saying goes though, Sunday was coming…
