21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

DAY 18 OF 21

Steadfastness

In Lamentations 3, we find the prophet Jeremiah deeply troubled—feeling depressed, physically sick, and emotionally drained. His faith was at a low point, and it’s clear he was struggling with despair. Have you ever been there? Has life ever felt so heavy that you couldn’t see past your circumstances? If so, you're not alone. Sometimes, we all find ourselves in places where our spirits are weighed down, and we question God's presence in our lives.

But as we read on in Lamentations 3, Jeremiah shifts his focus. Instead of continuing to dwell on his pain, he begins to remind himself of the steadfast love of God. He declares, "His steadfast love never ceases, His mercies never end; they are new every morning." This simple truth—God’s love and mercy are unchanging, unfailing, and fresh every day—becomes the foundation for hope, even in the darkest of times.

We too will face storms in life. There will be challenges, disappointments, and even seasons of doubt. But in the midst of these trials, we are called to keep our eyes on Jesus, who is always with us. Remember, God doesn’t sleep or slumber; He is constantly watching over us, offering His love, grace, and presence. His love is unconditional, unwavering, and eternal. No matter the circumstances, His love remains the same.

In times of struggle, we can turn to Him in prayer, worship, and the reading of His Word. Through these practices, we stay grounded in His promises and remember that He is faithful. When we focus on His love, rather than our circumstances, we find peace and strength to face whatever comes our way.

Reflection Questions:

  • How have you personally experienced God's steadfast love in your life, especially during challenging times?
  • Where is your focus right now—are you more focused on the difficulties in your life, or are you reminding yourself of God’s faithfulness?
  • How can you shift your perspective today to reflect on God's love and His unchanging nature?

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You for Your steadfast love that never fails. Help us to recognize Your unchanging love and mercy, especially in our difficult moments. When life feels overwhelming, may we remember that You are always with us, offering strength and peace. We choose to fix our eyes on You today, knowing that Your love is greater than any circumstance. Thank You for Your faithfulness, and help us to rest in Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
