Day 6 Renewal Readings
The Attributes of God
Who is like You, O Lord? Who is like You—majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders? (Exodus 15:11)
“My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8–9)
The Works of God
How great are Your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep. The senseless man does not know; fools do not understand that when the wicked spring up like grass and all the evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. But You, O Lord, are exalted forever. (Psalm 92:5–7)
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them. The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. (Psalm 145:18–20)
My Relationship to God
I am the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. I am the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. In the same way, I must let my light shine before men, that they may see my good deeds and praise my Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:13–16)
We are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God lives in us. (1 Corinthians 3:16)
The Character I Want to Cultivate
When I am blessed with abundance, I will beware lest my heart becomes proud, and I forget the Lord my God who provided all good things, thinking that it was my power and the strength of my hand that brought this wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:12–14, 17)
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)
My Relationship to Others
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)
The Lord Jesus prayed these words for the unity of all who would believe in Him: “I ask that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You, that they also may be in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me, that they may be perfected in one, that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them, even as You have loved Me.” (John 17:21–23)
