Living in Christ: Embracing the Life God Has for YouНамуна
Have you ever thought of how amazing the moon is? Think of a night when the moon is full, the night is clear, and how bright the moon is. It's impressive, isn't it?
Well, not quite, because the moon doesn't emit any light of its own. It merely reflects the sun's light. When the moon is shining brightly and we're in awe of it, we're really focused on the wrong thing. It's the sun that we should be in awe of.
I think this helps us understand our design as God's image bearers. All of creation is amazing, but people are the most amazing part of it all. God made us alone as his image bearers. He made us to be like Him in certain ways. And that means we're here to show others, and indeed all of creation what God is like.
But just like the moon can't take credit for the sun's light, we can't take credit for God's goodness that we show creation. It's God's glory that we reflect, not our own.
So don't be timid to shine brightly. It's what you are made to do. But be sure to give credit where it's due.
- In what ways have you seen people reflect one another?
- How have you reflected God’s glory and goodness this week?
