A Season of WaitingНамуна
Thinking of the Mighty One
At His trial, Jesus was asked, ‘Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?’ In His reply, Jesus quotes Daniel (Mark 14:62), ‘I am… And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’
The high priests did not like this one bit because they knew that Jesus was saying that He was God, even though in the law and prophets, they should have seen that Jesus was the one who was expected and who they should have been preparing for; the Saviour.
We commemorate this each year in Advent and use the period to remember that Jesus is more than the little helpless babe in a manger with everyone looking on. This is what is being ushered in with Jesus’ birth, and we think about in Advent: Jesus is powerful, almighty God with authority and is due full worship. Of course, He is.
He is the eternal, sovereign God. Don’t just think about the baby this year, but think of God and the Lord everlasting. That is who we are looking to celebrate at Christmas.

About this Plan
“The original definition of advent was used to describe the preparation time to welcome the arrival of a person or event of significance. For Christians, it is a time to prepare to remember the birth of Jesus as our saving one (Messiah).” (What Is Advent? Kath Henry). As we approach Christmas & the New Year, read along with this plan and focus your hearts back on Him.
