EquipHer Vol. 5: "Leadership Choices"

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1: The Power of Every Choice

In Craig Groeschel’s article entitled: “The 3 Enemies of Excellent Decision-Making (and How to Defeat Them),” we are prompted to reflect on an interesting fact: the average adult makes about 35,000 decisions each day, which include a combination of subconscious and conscious thoughts. When we consider that every decision—even the smallest one—contributes to the direction of our lives and our impact on others, we realize how essential it is to make intentional and quality choices.

The Bible provides us with numerous examples of leaders called to choose wisely, and one of the most powerful is Moses. When God calls Moses to free Israel from oppression in Egypt, Moses finds himself at a crossroads between fear and faith (Exodus 3:10-12). Accepting the assignment meant setting aside his insecurities (Moses had a speech impediment and felt unqualified to speak on behalf of the people of Israel before Pharaoh, the highest authority in Egypt), and fully trusting God. He intentionally chose to disregard the negative thoughts, and instead, believed that if God had given him such a significant task, He would also equip him to fulfill it. Moses's choice didn’t just affect his life; it influenced the entire nation of Israel. His decision to obey God brought freedom and hope to a whole people, transforming the course of their history and creating lasting consequences.

Similarly, every decision we make—even those that seem less significant—has an impact that goes beyond ourselves. Proverbs 3:5-6 invites us not to rely solely on our own understanding but to acknowledge God in all our ways. When we do this, we allow His wisdom to guide our steps and expand our impact far beyond what we could ever imagine. Just as it was for Moses, we too can become instruments of change and hope when we choose to surrender control to God.

Reflection Questions

  • What choices do I make each day that could impact others, even if I'm not aware of it?
  • Is there a decision in my current life that I need to entrust to God, seeking His guidance and wisdom?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to understand the value of every choice. Increase my trust in You so that I can surrender guidance in every decision, big or small. Grant me Your wisdom to act with integrity and to be a light to those I encounter along my path. Amen.
