Know Your RoleНамуна
As Christians, our first response is to follow Jesus. Even though we may have many different roles, what if we made following Jesus our primary role? When we strive to fulfill our role as a Christ-follower first, all of the other roles in our lives fall into place. When we follow Jesus, it’s easier to be a friend, a student, a worker, and much more, because following Him leads to a change in the way we live. So how do we prioritize following Jesus?
Jesus tells us that following Him means we are also serving Him. In Romans 1:1, the apostle Paul identifies himself first as a servant of Christ and then as an apostle. Paul’s primary role was being a follower and servant of Christ, and his secondary role as an apostle was his servanthood put into practice. In the same way, our purpose and direction in life is in following and serving Christ, which should be reflected in everything we do. The way we live out our other roles is through how we live as a follower of Christ.
To be a follower and servant of Jesus means we have the responsibility to follow and serve Him. The life we live should reflect the way Jesus modeled. Living for Christ is more than just believing the right things, but also living our faith out in practice. Therefore, our lifestyles should produce the fruit of the gospel that saved us. Being a Christ-follower is not a part of our lives, but rather it is our lives. Knowing that your primary role is in following Jesus, how can you model the way He lived in the other roles in your life?
