I sat on the cold floor, my heart racing and my mind swirling with disbelief at the words that had just escaped my mouth: “I don’t even know if I believe God exists anymore!” It wasn’t just the broken pieces of the phone I had thrown across the room that scattered around me—it was my entire life, shattered into fragments that I couldn’t put back together. As I sat there, engulfed by darkness, the weight of my brokenness settled over me. How did I get here? How had my life fallen so far apart? I was lost, angry, and confused, wondering if anything or anyone could help me now.

Have you ever found yourself in a place where the weight of life felt unbearable, where it seemed as though hope had vanished and nothing could pull you out of the pit? I had been walking in that darkness for years, and though I tried to keep up a facade for those around me—especially my two daughters—inside, I was crumbling. Every day felt heavier, and I couldn’t see a way out. I was convinced that maybe this was it for me. Maybe I was broken beyond repair.

But here’s the truth: even when we feel like we are beyond saving, beyond hope, God’s love is still there, pursuing us. Romans 8:38-39 tells us that nothing—absolutely nothing—can separate us from the love of God. Not our doubts, not our mistakes, not even the darkness that feels overwhelming. His love is constant, even when we can’t see it.

As I sat on the floor that day, surrounded by broken pieces, I had no idea that God’s love was about to break through in the most unexpected way. My story didn’t end in darkness, and neither does yours.
