Always Be Prepared
by Eric Sheetz
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." — Matthew 28:19-20
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." — 1 Peter 3:15-16
Ready: As Christians, we are called to make disciples and share Jesus with everyone we meet. Just as a hiker must prepare for a journey into the wilderness by gathering supplies, we must prepare spiritually to share the Good News. This requires training and commitment—spending time with Christ, reading His Word, speaking to Him in prayer, and keeping our goal of eternal life with Him at the forefront. Our daily walk with Christ strengthens and prepares us to share His message with those around us.
Aim: Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Peter 3:15-16
Fire: Commit to a daily prayer routine and meditate on God’s Word. Challenge a friend to do the same, creating opportunities to discuss and understand God’s message together. Prepare your testimony and outline a simple plan for sharing the Gospel whenever an opportunity arises.
Follow-Through: Read and meditate on 2 Timothy 4:2, and John 17:3. Practice sharing your prepared testimony with a Christian friend.
