Names of God (Old Testament)

DAY 6 OF 7

Jehovah-Tsidkenu: The Lord who is righteous

We live in a day and age when we hear a lot about God's love—that He is full of grace, quick to forgive, and slow to anger. This is true… but there are many facets of who God is. He has many names, and one of them is Jehovah Tsidkenu: the Lord who is righteous.

God sets the standard of moral correctness. While He is loving and good, He is also a perfect, holy, and just God who must respond to sin in a way that honours His virtuous nature… any behaviour less than His moral standard is subject to His judgement and wrath.

This scripture should serve as a warning to those in leadership or who operate in the gift of prophesy to be careful when preempting a word with ‘The Lord says.' It should also warn us as Christians that not everyone who makes this claim before sharing a word has actually heard from God.

Everything we are taught must align with the Word of God. We need to test every prophesy and sermon against the teaching of the Bible. If they do not align, be wary of the messenger and the message.

The message of God may not be popular, but it can change lives. God's righteousness requires us to be true to His word or be subjected to His judgment.
