An Encounter With Him: A 7-Day Bible-Reading Plan by Kenneth Copeland MinistriesНамуна
Develop Peace With Your Holy Trainer
Did you know you can exercise your inner self? Jesus told us that the Father would send the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter, Teacher, and Guide. His Spirit is within you and knows exactly what you need. It’s almost like having a spiritual gym with a personal trainer!
For example, Psalm 37 is a great “workout” to help you develop peace. In the following selection of verses, identify the instruction and think about it as if a trainer had given it to you. See if you have done (exercised) what it says.
- 1 Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness (that which is not upright or in right standing with God).
- 3 Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.
- 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
- 5 Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.
- 7 Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
- 8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; fret not yourself — it tends only to evildoing.
- 11 But the meek [in the end] shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Practice delighting yourself in the Lord and in the abundance of His peace! Practice committing your way to Him. Practice not fretting. Speak those verses personally. For example, “I do not fret because of evildoers. I trust in the Lord and do good! I feed surely on His faithfulness.” Practice being still and resting in the Lord. It’s part of your training.
I’m persuaded that if we grasped the kind of spiritual strength that can come if we’ll just practice being still in God’s presence and waiting on Him, we’d do it a lot more! We’d get so excited about it that we’d be encouraging everyone to spend time encountering Him!
