The Kid: An Advent Devotional for High Schoolers

DAY 13 OF 28

If you’ve ever seen the sky on a clear night, you know how bright the stars can be. They’re like guiding lights, serving as a map to help us orient ourselves and find our way. Okay, today we use GPS for that, but thousands of years ago, the stars were pretty much it. That’s why, when the wise men learn about Jesus’ birth, they find Him by following a star: a sign, a symbol, a light to guide them to their long-awaited Savior.

Just as the star guided them back then, God still guides our lives. No, it isn’t from a star in the sky (though it could be!). Today, it’s more through things like the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and wise counsel from others. In whatever form it takes, God finds ways to speak to us, guide us, and be with us in this world. That’s what Christmas reminds us of every year!

This week, think about an area where you need God's guidance. Pray that God would use something or someone in your life to speak to you about that specific thing this season.
