How to Grow Your Fire for GodНамуна
Another key to keeping the fire of God in our lives is repentance. I believe that many people don't "fall out of love" with the Lord, but rather, they "fall out of repentance."
In fact, we see the importance of this topic in Revelation 3. Jesus commanded the Laodicean church to 'be zealous and repent' for being lukewarm (Revelation 3:19). Repentance was the way to rekindle their fire.
We also see in another portion of Scripture that in describing the end of this age, Jesus said, 'And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold' (Matthew 24:12). This is what we are witnessing all around us in these last days; lawlessness is rising, and love and kindness are declining. Dilemmas are everywhere. Truth has become relative, not absolute. Suicide and depression among teens have become common and accepted as the norm. The world is going crazy, and that’s not a surprise.
Jesus warned us that the love of many would grow cold, which means they would no longer be burning for God. That’s a bad kind of growth. It’s growth in the wrong direction. It’s interesting that growing cold is a process and it doesn’t happen overnight.
Repentance is what keeps our hearts sensitive to the correction of the Holy Spirit through our daily walk. It keeps us much more aware of the flame's condition in our hearts. Without repentance, our hearts can become hardened, and our fire for God can dwindle. Regular repentance allows us to stay sensitive to God's leading and maintain our passion for Him.
If you want the fire of God to remain ever-kindling, avoid excuses, add wood to the fire that God started, and make sure you keep your heart sensitive to the Lord through repentance.
Let's Pray:
Jesus, give me the strength to pursue You even when I am struggling. Let my faith remain strong in all circumstances. Ignite my heart with a fervent love for You and keep my spiritual fire burning bright. Help me to live a life of continuous repentance, staying sensitive to Your Holy Spirit, and keeping my heart pure and on fire for You.
