Five Reasons Why God Tarries

DAY 2 OF 5

Waiting builds trust and humility…

James 4:6 - But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."

Everybody loves the fact that God gives grace to the humble. But not everybody wants to walk the path of humility! One of God's foremost ways to cultivate humility in us is found in seasons of 'waiting'.

People often tell me, "I cannot hear God's voice." And they sincerely mean it. When I ask them about the time they take to listen, they almost always look away or are unable to answer.

We have to somehow 'slow down' to take the time necessary for us to listen until we can hear. Sometimes God's grace allows us to hear 'on the go'. But more often, we need to pause, quiet our hearts and become still. We have to literally, physically 'sit still' for long enough, so our soul will come to rest and the Holy Spirit can speak into our spirit!

Waiting on God for an answer is humbling because it requires a posture of dependence. It challenges the innermost part of our being with the question; do I really trust that God has the best intent towards me?

BE HONEST...

>> Are you afraid that God will delay too long and you will miss out on a great opportunity? Or that He is going to allow a terrible thing to happen to you? If you are honest with yourself, do you trust the Lord in the waiting?

>> Look up and write down some of the following verses on 'trusting God' and slowly pray through each one. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you grow in faith and trust in God. God gives grace to those who humble themselves before Him.
