Waiting on God With Your Finances: A 3-Day JourneyНамуна
Hey Friend!
Now that we have an understanding of God’s provision and how to better ourselves while we wait for His provision, let’s look at something we can do that’s even crazier than what we’re already doing.
Most of us have our money priorities backwards. We focus on building wealth, thinking once we have "enough," we'll focus on more meaningful stuff.
But what if prioritizing God's kingdom is actually the key to both financial peace and a fulfilling life?
What if we saw our finances not as a way to build wealth, but as a tool to advance God's kingdom?
This doesn't mean being financially reckless. It means prioritizing giving, making decisions based on kingdom impact, using our resources to serve others, and finding contentment in God's provision, whether it's a little or a lot.
Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, and everything else will be given to us as well.
Proverbs 3:9-10 promises that when we honor God with our wealth, our barns will overflow.
And in 1 Timothy 6:17-19, we're reminded to put our hope in God, not wealth, and to be rich in good deeds.
These verses flip our usual thinking about money on its head. They suggest that generosity, not hoarding, is the path to true wealth; that investing in God's kingdom gives returns way beyond any stock market gains.
It might sound crazy to think about giving when we’re struggling to make ends meet. How can we possibly give to others when we can hardly take care of ourselves? Or maybe we feel guilty because we want to be generous but just can't see how right now.
Here's the thing: God doesn't expect us to give what we don't have. But He does invite us to trust Him with what we do have, even if it seems insignificant.
Remember the widow's mites from Luke 21:1-4? Sometimes the smallest acts of generosity can have the biggest impact - both on others and on our own hearts.
Here's an action step for today: Let’s look at our budgets (or make one if we haven't) and find one way to align our spending more with God's kingdom priorities.
Maybe we’ll increase our giving, cut an unnecessary expense to free up money for ministry, or find a way to use our skills to serve others!
Remember, seeking God's kingdom first isn't just a nice spiritual idea - it's a practical way to find purpose in our finances and peace in God’s provision.
Let's pray: Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness in my finances. Help me to trust You more, even in times of waiting. Give me wisdom to use my resources for Your kingdom. May I find peace in Your provision and joy in generosity. Guide me to align my financial priorities with Your purposes.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
