31 Values to Pray for Your KidsНамуна
Love for God’s Word
If we want our children to develop love and respect for God’s Word, they need to hear it and, most importantly, see it from us. We should long for our children to understand the power, wisdom, and guidance the Scriptures provide, and we should want them to cherish the Bible as a vital source of truth and life.
Psalm 19:10 beautifully describes the value of God's Word, comparing it to the finest gold and sweetest honey. We should pray that our children come to see the Bible as a precious treasure. They need to know that God's Word is not just a book but a living guide that enriches their lives and fills their hearts with joy.
Psalm 1:1-2 speaks of the blessings of delighting in God's law and meditating on it day and night. Our children must catch this by us modeling it for them. Meditating on God’s word daily in silence and seclusion can be a missed opportunity. Do it in the living room, where your kids will see you engaging in God’s word. We want them to immerse themselves in God's Word, and may they experience the blessings of wisdom, peace, and righteousness.
In Acts 17:10-12, we read about the Bereans, who eagerly received the message and examined the Scriptures daily to see if what they heard was true. We pray that our children will have a Berean-like attitude, approaching God's Word enthusiastically and diligently. This will help them develop a hunger for the truth, building a solid foundation of faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ, the rock of our salvation.
Pray:
Father, in Jesus’ name, we lift our children to you, asking that you instill a deep love for your Word. Help them to see the Bible as a precious treasure, sweeter than honey and more valuable than gold. May they delight in your law and meditate on it day and night, allowing it to guide their lives and shape their character. Give them a Berean-like eagerness to study the Scriptures daily, seeking your truth, and growing in their faith. We pray that your Word will be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path, leading them in righteousness. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
